It's Time To Begin....

Hello! Welcome to A Divine Affair!

My name is Nicole Foley the CEO and Head planner of A Divine Affair.

I've been planning events since 2013 and have loved every event! I've worked with everything from international education conferences to high school proms.

I attended Dominican University to obtain my Bachelor's in Journalism and Communications and later went on to obtain my certification for wedding and event planning through the Lovegevity Wedding Planning Institute at Triton College.

I'm very excited to be sharing A Divine Affair with you and am ready to take on whatever you bring to the table. Join me today in making your dream a reality.

Our Grand Opening.... AMP Up For AMPS

A Divine Affair will be celebrating our grand opening with a fundraiser to support the treatment and research of Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome (AMPS).  AMPS primarily effects children, causing them extreme pain to various parts of their body, making it hard to even walk.

AMP Up For AMPS is a fundraiser to raise money to advance the treatment of AMPS in the Chicagoland area. The event will be based around children at Dave & Busters in Addison, IL. We chose this location because many kids with AMPS are told they cannot play sports, run around, or even goof around at recess.  Their movement can be very limited. By having this event at Dave & Busters we are helping them to play the games that anyone can have a blast with anytime despite their pain.

The evnt will be from 2-5p.m. and will include food, games, a parent playground and a raffle... including the raffle of 2 puppies through PAWS.

Check it out today and purchase your tickets before we sell out!

Tasty Treats For A Fancy Feast

In Chicago today you can pretty much find any type of food at any time of the day or night, but what about for your event?

Where do you even start?!

Well it's my professional opinion to always start with dessert because.... well let's face it, dessert is always the best part!

Chicago has so many tempting treats just waiting to be tried; Cupcakes, Chimney Cakes, Cookies, Ice Cream, â€‹Gulab Jamun, and many more. There's different foods from places all over the world right here in this amazing city.

Try something new for your event, even if you just start small. Instead of the typical cake maybe have gourmet cupcakes or a donut tower.

Want to make sure you pair your dessert with your main cuisine? No problem, Desserts from all different nationalities can be found in the heart of Chicago to match your feast and make sure to be the perfect match for what you're looking for.

Take a day to stroll the streets to try different bakeries, or look into some of Chicago's famous festivals. There are numerous festivals revolving specifically around sweets and desserts, giving you the perfect opportunity to try things from different places and get to know the staff behind the sweets!

The Wedding's Near... Grab A Beer

As the wedding get's closer couples tend to let stress override them and begin to take it out on each other. Whether it's bickering, simple disagreements, or tears, people tend to get so focused on the wedding plans that they forget why they are putting these plans into motion.

The most important thing that couples need to remember is that this day, even though it seems like your doing it for other people, it's actually for YOU.

When you start to freak out that the napkins aren't the exact shade of pink you wanted, or that your maid of honor got silver shoes instead of gold.... take your partners hand, breath, and go grab a drink together down the street while you laugh about all the silly things that have been keeping you awake at night.

Enjoy the time you have and cherish the moments leading up to the biggest day of your life.

Now.... that beer is waiting for you!

To The Women That Raised Us...

We all have a special woman in our life that has influenced us, cared for us, and has been there for us always. Whether it is a mother, grandmother, aunt, foster mother, or maybe an older sister, we cannot deny that there is a mother figure of some sort in our lives.

Take this time to give some love to this woman and thank her for all she has done and sacrificed for you. Take the time to reflect on the memories, stories, and special moments that you have shared. Make sure to do something to give back to her today - whether it's plant something in her garden or dropping her off for a massage. Take that time to help her see that you do appreciate everything she has done for you.

A Divine Affair would like to share our thanks to all the mothers and mother figures out there that have made a difference to all of us. It is because of you that we grow into the people that we are today, and it is because of you that we can say that we have felt love and compassion.

Thank you,

A Divine Affair

Make sure you give the best Maid Of Honor speech that your bride can ask for with these 10 tips for an MOH speech:

1.) Introduce Yourself to her guests

2.) Tell a brief story of how you met

3.) Tell a funny story about the bride

4.) Tell about the first time you met the Groom

5.) Give an example of how you knew they were perfect for each other

6.) Do not exchange inside jokes with the bride

7.) Mention how her family raised a wonderful daughter

8.) Be yourself - her guests want to see the awesome girl that is so close with the bride

9.) Use a quote in your speech - often helps to wrap things up

Best Friends Forever.... The Bond Between a Bride and Her Maid of Honor

A bond between best friends is unbreakable, and that's why the choice to make her your Maid of Honor, truly is an honor. Now asking her can be the hardest challenge - and just imagine - your fiance had an even bigger challenge of asking you!

Now when I was asked to be Michelle's Maid of Honor - she did it in the perfect way. She did it in a way that was unique to your friendship.

Our favorite move to watch together is The Hangover. She took Allen's Wolf pack speech and rewrote it be all about us.

This is where that bond comes to be true between each other. Your Maid of Honor is going to be with you from beginning to end of this wedding, and long thereafter. So, when you're working on figuring out how to ask your best friend to stand next to you while you marry the man of your dreams, make sure to make it special for her, just like he did for you.

Thank you Michelle for making it unforgettable.

Specialty Drinks for A Special Occasion

When people host a party, a wedding, or are just celebrating a special occasion there is usually drinks involved.  So why not have a unique drink to celebrate the occasion?  Specialty drinks are a great way to add a change to the bar and bring something new to the guests.

This can be anything from a smores martini to a chocolate milkshake with Kahlua mixed in.

Most venues will work to bring in bartenders to help host a bar with new drinks for the guests. As the host, you will provide your drink of choice, and a recipe if needed. Be creative when choosing your drink for the occasion. Try and choose something that your guests will be excited to try, and is exclusive to your personality and taste.

There are drinks of all colors, flavors, textures, and liquors.  Work with a bartender near you to try different concoctions and flavors.

Don’t want alcohol? That’s fine! Most alcoholic drinks can be made in a virgin style for those that do not drink alcohol, allowing you to still be creative and different at your event.

Do It Yourself & Save Money To Spend Somewhere Else For Your Big Day

Couples are often looking for little ways to save money here and there before they get married. One of the best and easiest ways to do this is through D. I.Y. projects.

These projects are usually simple and easy to take on while allowing the couple to put a touch of their personality into it. You can do anything from creating your own centerpieces using mirrors and candles, to decorating your envelopes for your save-the-dates.

Pinterest is a great way to find ideas for what to do and instructions on how to design specific pieces. Looking for an idea of what to give your bridesmaids? How about bedazzling mini champagne bottles with a cute card for each girl? This keeps it simple and sweet without costing you a fortune.

Are you afraid you won't have the time to do all these projects before your big day? That's what we are here for! You can work with a Divine Affair for a small fee to help put together your D.I.Y. projects and still save money! Contact us at adivineaffairnf@gmail.com
